A fine English Regency mahogany regulator longcase, the beautiful flame veneered case with shallow arch and ogee moulded hood. The 12 inch ogee shaped silvered dial is of the regulator type with separate dials for hours, minutes and seconds. It also has the very rare feature of an annual calendar with months, days of the week and signs of the zodiac and an inner seconds ring with a sweep seconds hand.
The sturdy eight day movement has five ringed pillars, deadbeat escapement, Harrison’s maintaining power and large brass pendulum bob. It has both a calibrated regulation nut and a calibrated brass sphere below for additional Fine setting. The pendulum hangs from a large brass back cock on the movement which is driven by a small brass cased weight.
The elegant London made mahogany case has a Classic Regulator type ogee shaped shallow arched hood with a conforming shape to the top of the long moulded trunk door. The flame veneered rectangular ba se has an applied astragal moulding and stands on its original plinth.
