HOROLOGY FAIRYTALE MUSICAL COMES TO LONDON: “THE CLOCKMAKER’S DAUGHTER”
June 10th 2015
I expect most of our readers are currently gearing up for London’s art and antique fairs season. However, for those of you who love horology and clocks, the musical The Clockmaker’s Daughter, currently playing at the Landor Theatre in Clapham, might be the perfect way to wind down after a long day antique hunting.
The Clockmaker’s Daughter. An original musical by Michael Webborn and Daniel Finn
Inspired by the fairytales of Hans Christian Andersen and the Brothers Grimm, the story revolves around the town of Spindlewood, where a statue of a girl stands in the town square. Each year on the last night of winter the townsfolk gather for the ceremony of “turning of the key”, when they attempt to wind the statue. The town is also home to a clockmaker with a hidden secret – he has created something in his workshop which is much more than a machine.
The Clockmaker’s Daughter looks set to be the perfect theatrical event for both music and clock lovers alike. It will be playing at the Landor Theatre in Clapham until Saturday, July 4th. Tickets cost £20 (£18 concessions).
