This antique clock has a finely constructed, figured mahogany case of classical style with scrolled buttresses and swept top, terminated by a single brass urn finial. This is all seated upon a matching wall bracket of similar design.
Both the circular white enamel dial and hour striking movement are fully signed by the maker.
John Grant of Fleet Street, London, was an exceptional and individual clockmaker of his time who favoured this elegant style of case. He became Free of the Clockmakers’ Company in 1781, held the office of Warden and died in 1810.
