A rare two-day chronometer by the celebrated firm of Dent, with their patent staple balance and numbered 51958. The high quality movement, which is fully signed and numbered on the silvered dial, exhibits all the usual refinements of a precision chronometer but unusually has Dent’s Patent staple or “Z” balance generally reserved for his best workmanship and consequent accuracy.

The original mahogany case retains the firm’s trade label and is signed and numbered on the distinctive circular recessed plate to the case front.
