Antique bracket clock by John Brown, Edinburgh

Scotland

A fine George II period ebony cased bracket clock by John Brown, Edinburgh. This fine clock in an ebony moulded case has an inverted bell top with a brass carrying handle. The sides have elaborately pierced gilt brass sound frets depicting flowers and cherubs.

The brass dial has a silvered chapter ring with a mock pendulum, date aperture and a signature plate signed Jno Brown Edinburgh. Above is a subsidiary dial showing strike/silent. Around the dials in the four corners are pierced rococo spandrels with face masks.
